Then
The Carroll Building has been an anchor for Lakeside’s commercial area since 1905. Brothers Dan and John Carroll Ran a grocery store/general store for over four decades. The Carroll brothers also owned a gas station at the southeast corner of W. 2nd St, and Maple Ave., and later the two-story building at W. 2nd St., and Walnut Ave. built by Lakeside co-founder Barney Jacobs.
Now
The Carroll Building is home to two popular Lakeside merchants. Sloopy’s Sports Café has won national awards for its pizza. La Dolce Galleria serves delicious gelato and homemade desserts. The second floor is currently unused and awaiting development.
